Welcome to the 12th Edition of Funk Hut Radio with DJ Jeff C, DJ Megablack and DJ Seven It’s impossible to describe in words how devastating it is to lose a family member, especially a parent. Less than a couple weeks ago on June 5, 2010, DJ Jeff C’s Mom , Mrs. Dot Carson, passed away in her sleep. Mrs. Carson, like many great Moms, was loved by all who were close to her and was motherly to many of Jeff’s friends, including me. As artists (i.e. musicians, dancers, painters, actors, etc.), we have a tendency to naturally express our sorrow and feelings through our art. Jeff C is no different, and in his own way of dealing with the immense emotions of losing the Lady who loved him from birth, put together a beautifully crafted dedication mix in her honor. It was debated whether or not to publicly display the mix, being that it was originally meant for Jeff’s own private listening, with the exception of a very few close friends and family. Jeff insisted on uploading the mix and sharing it with the world, with the intention that it celebrates all great Mothers and those who honor their Moms in spirit or in life. Welcome to the 3rd Edition of Funk Hut Radio with DJ Jeff C and DJ Megablack! Because of your love and support, we are in the top 20% of all podcasts on Podomatic WORLDWIDE! Thanks to all of you who have been listening, and please continue to give us feedback on the show (Special shout to our folks in Kansas, East and West Coasts, Toronto, and London)! We’ll continue to give you the best in good music, hip hop and turntablism! There’s an unwritten rule in the world of DJ’s to BREAK records from local artists and REPRESENT where you’re from. Not everyone follows the rules, but at Funk Hut Productions, we believe in it to the fullest! That said, we introduce the ‘CA 2 VA Series’, where every few weeks, we dedicate a show strictly for local hip hop artists in Virginia and California. Jeff C starts off the first edition of the ‘CA 2 VA’ series by repping his VA 804 residence. Jeff dedicates the majority of his set to pay homage to the Supafriendz collective (Skillz, Lonnie B, Danja Mowf, Lil Roc), who, along with Disorganized Union (Tha Union), were extremely important for putting the Richmond VA hip hop scene on the map! Mega ends the show paying respect to the Bay Area, CA hip hop scene, with new tracks from up and coming rappers Haji Agent 8 and Chucc1 (Sacramento, CA).
